Obituaries

Bernice Darnell Sanders, 82, of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.  She was born in Wynn, Arkansas on October 24, 1927.  She married F.R. (Bob) Sanders, her husband of 62 years in Memphis, Tennessee and they relocated to Atlanta in 1962.  In her church life, Bernice always had a strong voice for missions.  In Memphis, she was active in the prison ministry of La Belle Baptist Church.  As a long-time member of Briarcliff Baptist Church, she was active in children’s ministries, assisted with the children’s choir and was a member of the BYKOTA Sunday School class.  Bernice is survived by her husband, F.R. (Bob) Sanders; daughter, Linda J. Sanders of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Douglas and Lauren Sanders and Elizabeth Lund of Raleigh, NC; sister, Jimmie Ellen Guy of Plant City, FL; brothers, Albert and Ray Darnell of Memphis, TN; and many nieces and nephews.  Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Pearl Darnell; son, SSgt. John Robert Sanders, USMC, sisters, Beatrice Ward and Faye Darnell, and brother, J.D. Darnell.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 7^th, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross with Rev. Scott Huskins and Rev.
