Sara Cape passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 23, 2009 at age 90. She was born in Norcross, GA on August 19, 1919 and was a life-long resident there. She was part of a long line of Gwinnett County families dating back to the early 1800s. She was the daughter of Archibald H. and Jessie T. Lietch. Arch Lietch was a pharmacist and owner of the Norcross Drug Company in downtown Norcross during the early 1900s. Her grandfather was the Reverend T. T. Twitty who was pastor of numerous Gwinnett County Churches during the late 1800s and early 1900s, including the First Baptist Church of Norcross. Her husband, Jewel S. Cape, was the owner of Cherokee Plumbing and Heating Company in Buckhead from 1947 until his death in 1981. Sara is survived by her children: Thomas H. and Karen S. Cape, Sylvia C. Howard, Judith C. Pike, and Timothy W. Cape; grandchildren Harold T. and Cynthia S. Buck, III, Robert C. and Lynn O. Buck, Sara K. and J. Webb Redmond, Katie S. Moore, Jeffrey T. and Nicole A. Cape, John W. Cape; great-grandchildren Justin W. Buck, Molly K. Buck, Emily M. Buck, Jack A. Buck, Hannah E. Buck, Cody J. Mangrum, Riley W. Redmond, Evelyn V. Cape, Ella N. Cape; and first cousins L. Clifton Lietch, Dorothy Lietch Douglas, Jean Robertson Beall, all in the Atlanta area. A visitation will be held at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Norcross, GA on Sunday, December 27 from 4PM to 6PM. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 28 at 1PM at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel.
