Obituary for Lou Ann Rikard

On November 18, 2018 Lou Ann Rikard danced off this world and now waltzes with the love of her life for all eternity. She was born on January 31, 1930 in Winnsboro, SC. She moved around a lot in her childhood, and eventually came to reside in Atlanta in her teen years. It was here she met and fell in love with J.W. (“Wint”) Rikard. They were married on October 21, 1950. They enjoyed and reveled in each other’s company for 62 years, and never missed an opportunity to take a spin around the dance floor if the “Tennessee Waltz” was played. They were best friends and could teach a masters class on how to love your spouse. Mrs. Rikard also pushed limits and broke barriers as she made a career for herself in finance. She worked as the head bookkeeper for C&S Bank in Atlanta and in the Math Errors department for the IRS. She leaves behind a plethora of people who will miss her very much, chiefly among them her daughter Joy Rikard Mardis and John David Mardis of Lawrenceville, her son Ted James Rikard and Cindy Rikard of Lilburn, and her daughter Jill Rikard Carrier and Dr. Allen Carrier of Chattanooga, TN. In the 1980’s Ann Rikard received the title “Grannie” as she become a pivotal and foundational figure in the lives of her grandchildren Carolyn and Michael, Jonathan and Katy, Alison, Mitch and Kelly. Ann was a loving Christian, and devoted member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross. She loved to read and dance. She rejected intolerance, and pushed those around her to love their neighbor. Ann Rikard has asked for a small private graveside service for her family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given in her honor to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Norcross, Georgia. On-line condolences may be expressed at Arrangements entrusted to Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. 770-448-5757.
