Robert (Bob) Glenn McKinnon of Atlanta passed away on February 17 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 27, 1946 in Charleston WV as the oldest child of Kathryn Glenn and Robert William McKinnon.
Bob and his family moved to Atlanta in 1960 where Bob attended Druid Hills High School and Emory University earning his Bachelor's degree 1968. He served in the US Air Force in Viet Nam as an officer until 1970. Upon returning to the United States, he continued his military career in the Air Force, earning his MBA from Southern Illinois in 1973 before joining the private sector in 1977 as a CPA at Main LaFrentz in New York. Bob's love of higher education led him to leadership roles as the Chief Financial Officer at Mercer University, Clark - Atlanta University, Newberry College and McKendree University before retiring from Reinhardt University. He was an avid reader who loved to read books about History and in particular the Civil War, Viet Nam and historical figures. He also spent a lot of his spare time investigating and tracing the McKinnon family tree back to Scotland in the 1700s and was always finding fun new information to share with the family. Bob was able to make several trips back to Viet Nam as part of Children of Peace International and also Vet's with a Mission, charities where he was able to help administer aid to many villagers and small children who were in need of medical assistance. His Higher Education experience also helped him assist a number of students pursue further study in the USA.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Guckert McKinnon, three children, Terrance Lee McKinnon, Debra Kay Kromer and Robert Scott McKinnon, two brothers Dr. William M. McKinnon and wife Charlotte, John T. McKinnon and wife Deborah, sister-in-law Cathy McKinnon and one sister Mary Striplin and husband Frank, eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on March 30th , at 3PM, at Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be sent to Vets With A Mission, or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network,
